One of the highlights, for me, of the period was Ghibli Club. This was a book club style weekly film club where a group of us watched almost all the Studio Ghibli films and then got together (virtually) every month or so to discuss. I think the group, overall, enjoyed it but once the Ghibli films were done, we looked for another grouping of films but nothing was quite as neat.
Now, we have found[1] Mubi. Mubi is currently running an offer for three months for £1 each month and so this is a great way to try it out.
So here is a new club:
- One film per week
- Three Word Reviews
- Films chosen by members from the Mubi selection
- One call a month (so really four or five films per month)
- Many discussions
- No scoring
At the time of blogging, we have four members, but do let me know if you would like to know more and also join.
I will put the 3-word reviews here, as I did for Ghibli Club.
1. Mubi is not "found" - this is poetic licence, as I have subscribed to it on and off for many years. We are, however, taking advantage of a current sign-up offer.↩
